Introducing Bulk Translate
Batch translation powered by your own LLM API key. No accounts, no middleman, no per-word pricing.
Today we're launching Bulk Translate — a free, open-source tool for translating multiple texts across multiple languages in a single pass.
The Problem
Existing translation workflows are built around single inputs. Google Translate, DeepL, and even ChatGPT's UI expect you to paste one piece of text at a time. One sentence in, one translation out. Repeat.
If you're a developer localizing a UI, a marketer translating campaign copy, or a content team shipping in five languages, this adds up fast. Fifty strings across five languages? That's 250 paste-and-copy operations. Nobody has time for that.
We wanted a tool that feels like working in a spreadsheet — paste everything at once, pick your languages, hit translate, and see all results side by side.
What Bulk Translate Does
- Paste up to 100 lines at once. Each line becomes a row in the grid
- Pick 1–5 target languages. Columns appear for each language
- Click Translate. Your LLM processes everything in parallel with smart concurrency
- Edit, export, repeat. Inline-edit any cell, then export as CSV, JSON, or copy to clipboard
The whole thing runs in your browser. There's no backend, no database, and no account system.
BYOK — Bring Your Own Key
We don't charge for translations because we don't do the translating. You bring your own API key from any provider that speaks the OpenAI chat completions protocol:
- OpenAI — GPT-4o, GPT-4o-mini, o3, o4-mini
- Anthropic — Claude Opus, Sonnet, Haiku
- Google Gemini — 2.5 Pro, 2.5 Flash
- Groq — Llama 4, DeepSeek R1 (blazing fast)
- DeepSeek — DeepSeek Chat, Reasoner
- OpenRouter — 200+ models through a single key
- Together AI — Open-weight models at scale
- Ollama — Run models locally, zero API cost
Your key is stored in your browser's localStorage. Your text goes directly from your browser to the LLM provider. Nothing passes through our servers — we have no servers.
Built for Real Workflows
A few things we prioritized that make Bulk Translate genuinely useful for production work:
Placeholder preservation. Translation often involves templates — Hello {name}, {{userName}}, %d new messages. Bulk Translate automatically preserves these patterns so your variables survive intact across every language.
Incremental retranslation. Changed one input? Only that row needs re-translating. Lock rows you've manually reviewed so they don't get overwritten.
Column colors and presets. Assign colors to language columns for visual scanning. Save your "Work languages" and "Side project" setups as named presets.
Dark mode and themes. Six theme palettes (Nord, Catppuccin, Dracula, Solarized, Gruvbox, plus a clean default), each with light and dark variants. Pick the one that matches your vibe.
What's Next
This is v1. We're actively working on:
- Multi-model comparison — see how different models translate the same text side by side
- Translation memory — reuse past translations to save on API costs
- Context-aware translation — add a global style guide that applies to every translation
- Custom themes — build your own color palette
